What has been/was the most rewarding part of your internship? What have you learned?
The most rewarding part of this internship has been the gaining the experience and knowledge of how to prepare, adapt, and conduct myself in a professional setting. Along with learning the technical material that goes into the products we sell, I have learned the importance of managing both internal and external relationships.

How has your internship prepared you for entering the job market?
Since starting my internship I have become more confident in my abilities of speaking in front of peers, as well as meeting interactions with current and potential customers.

What advice/tips do you have for other students looking to get an internship?
If you are offered an internship by a company that you are interested in, but it wasn’t exactly the position you wanted take it anyway. Work hard in that position, while building relationships in all different departments. Gaining the respect of your coworkers will allow for different opportunities to arise within the company. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Asking questions clears up confusion, shows the listener your interest in the topic at hand, and in some cases it will make the employee look at the subject in a new light that they hadn’t considered before. Not all questions should be business related, getting to know your coworkers will make coming into the office more comfortable.

What do you wish you knew before interning that you would like to share with other students?
Bring a notepad everywhere, internships are often 3 month crash courses with a lot of information being thrown at you in a short period of time, but having a reference point to look back will help tremendously.

Would you recommend other students complete an internship? Why or why not?
I think it’s very important for student’s who are looking to get into most job markets to have an internship. All the college classes that I have attended are focused on learning the material. However, it is also important to see how employee’s prepare for and carry out meetings. To be able to do this effectively ensure’s that no one’s time is being wasted on someone’s inexperience in a professional setting.
