Thermal Hazard Properties
Although CNI is not classed as highly flammable or flammable its thermal properties can create hazards:
Decomposition Temperature > 100 deg C
– the hotter it gets the faster it decomposes until it cannot stop
Auto Ignition Temperature > 130 – 200 deg C
– the higher the CNI concentration the earlier it will ignite itself.
Hazard Effect
Tanks, containers, pumps and material in pipework can fail in a dramatic manner leading to fires or projectiles if their contents or liquids get too hot.
